Dr Ongini graduated with honors in Biological Sciences (1975) followed by  a post-graduate degree in Pharmacology (1980) and Toxicology (1985) at the University of Milan, School of Pharmacy,  in Italy.

Dr Ongini has more than 25 years of experience in drug discovery and has published over 200 original articles in peer-reviewed journals in the field of medicinal chemistry, pharmacology and drug safety.

Before joining Nicox, Ennio Ongini held various senior level positions at the Schering-Plough Research Institute, the most recent of which was Director of the research center at the San Raffaele Science Park in Milan .

Dr Ongini has been a senior scientist at the National Institute of Health in Rome and speaker at numerous scientific symposia and conferences. Moreover, he acts as a referee for scientific journals and is also involved in evaluating research projects on behalf of the European Community and investment funds.
